Prepare Your Skin, Winter Is Coming

  1. Replace your moisturizer.
  2. Exfoliate.
  3. Take shorter showers.
  4. Always keep balm handy.
  5. Never, ever skip sunscreen.

During summer, when the sun is high and blazing, we are so afraid of how our skin will be damaged thus making us all the skincare products we can to protect us from the sun. Now that the air is too dry, humidity is dropping and the temperature is freezing, we may also want to switch our skincare routine, just like how we change wardrobes from season to season.

Here are some of the upgrades you need to do to protect your skin from the snow:

1. Replace your moisturizer.

Winter is the time to replace your summer spots and other damages caused by too much exposure to the sun. Switch from a lightweight lotion to a heavier and richer cream that is loaded with hydrating and healing properties to protect your skin against temperature and humidity.

2. Exfoliate.

Now is the time to remove the dead skin cells to help your moisturizers absorb quicker and more effectively. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub once or twice a week, not just for your face but for your entire body.

3. Take shorter showers.

Keep your skin from completely drying out by taking shorter showers, using lukewarm water. Heat, as we know, will absorb all of the moisture in your skin that will lead to dryness, flaking and irritation.

4. Always keep balm handy.

Chapped lips are a thing during this season. This is caused by too little humidity during the winter months. During these months, your lips will start to become dry, cracked and peeling. Make sure to moisturize your lips with a balm and bring it wherever you are.

5. Never, ever skip sunscreen.

No matter what season it is, on sunny, cloudy, rainy and snowy days, sun protection should be applied daily. We can't stress enough how important sunscreen it. Your skin is as vulnerable to sun damage and UV exposure regardless of the season.
