Proper skin care should be for everybody, men included. It is not just about looking good, at its core, skincare is all about health. Looking awesome is just a bonus. We sometimes take our skin for granted. What we sometimes forget is that without it, our bodies would not be able to retain water and regulate our internal temperature to keep our bodies functioning. It is our shield against harmful bacteria and the harsh environment. If you are not taking care of it, it can lead to more serious and complex problems. It’s not about vanity. It’s about your health. So listen up boys, proper skin care needs to be practiced by everyone. You don’t know where to start? Read up and so you can start taking care of your skin.
Cleanse
Cleansing your face removes the grime and dirt that are clogging up your pores. This practice effectively prevents breakouts and the oily face look. Make it a habit to cleanse two times a day. Do it after waking up to wash away the oil, gunk and bacteria your face accumulated while you were sleeping. That pillow or blanket is not as clean as you think. The second cleansing should be right before you go to bed. This is to wash away the day’s buildup.
Exfoliate
Exfoliate two to three times a week. Exfoliation is about removing the dead skin cells, sebum and dirt accumulated on your skin. It provides a deep clean that is not possible through regular cleansing. Depending on your skin type, you can use either chemical exfoliators or abrasive exfoliators. If you have sensitive skin, use a chemical exfoliant, otherwise, you can use abrasive exfoliators also known as scrubs. When using a scrub, always remember to be gentle. Scrubbing too hard will damage your skin.
Moisturize
Now that you know how to keep your skin clean and free from clogged pores, you now need to keep it hydrated or moisturized. Moisturizing keeps your skin healthy and protected from harmful toxins like smog and smoke. This step also nourishes your skin to help strengthen it while it regenerates. Just like cleansing, do it after waking up and before going to bed. Remember to moisturize after cleansing.
